The United Family Services Domestic Violence Service Area works toward a day when intimate partner violence is eradicated and everyone can live in a violence-free home.

We will end intimate partner violence and support people in their efforts to live violence free by promoting safety and empowerment and eliminating the barriers that keep them at risk.

We believe…

  • Intimate partner violence is the systematic use of force, coercion and threats in order to achieve and maintain power and control over others in an intimate relationship.
  • Everyone has a human right to live in a safe environment free of violence.
  • The voices of survivors provide the framework from which we develop our advocacy efforts and direct services.
  • In the interconnectedness of all forms of oppression. We will serve without prejudice or judgment and embrace diversity in regards to race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, abilities and class.
  • In providing an equality-based continuum of services in a confidential, professional, safe, responsive and respectful manner.
  • In adapting to changing needs and providing the tools necessary for those experiencing intimate partner violence to become empowered.
  • In educating and collaborating with the community to foster social change and eliminate intimate partner violence.
