Community Initiatives  

There are so many ways that people in the greater Charlotte area give back to the community through involvement with United Family Services.



The 9th annual Jingle Bell Ball was held December 12, with all proceeds donated to United Family Services’ Shelter for Battered Women. At the end of the night, more than $11,900 was generated in support of UFS’ domestic violence services.


United Family Services’ Holiday Store enabled mothers to find presents for their children and allowed children to give their mothers a special gift in return. Staff from Ryan Homes were among the many generous donors to this event.


The BellSouth Women's Networking Alliance Project strives to give back to the communities the company serves. The first drive resulted in a van full of donated goods for The (United Family Services) Shelter.


Cabarrus Rape Crisis Companions enjoy a special dinner in honor of volunteer appreciation week.


The Brothers of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Incorporated partnered with UFS to collect as many cellular phones as possible. In return for these cell phones, UFS receives a donation to be used to provide voice mail accounts and other services for victims of domestic violence.


Young Connectors, a dynamic group of young people who engage in social activities while promoting the mission and programs of United Family Services (UFS), have fun at the Queen’s Cup.


UFS Counselor Mary Russ takes a plunge for Operation Freefall,
the two-mile high stand against sexual assault.
